An experienced hospitality leader based in Hilton Head Island, John Munro has spent more than 40 years in executive positions at numerous boutique hotels and resorts throughout the Hilton Head Island region of South Carolina, including Sea Pines Resort. Before joining Sea Pines Resort as the director of lodging and later vice president of hospitality, sales, and marketing, John Munro gained experience as the director of lodging at The Club Group, a vacation rental company he grew to include 175 properties.
John Munro spent 15 years as the vice president of hospitality, sales, and marketing at Sea Pines Resort. Under his leadership, the hotel maintained its perfect score on TripAdvisor and earned the No. 5 ranking on US News and World Report’s national hotel rankings in 2023. He has garnered many honors and accolades throughout his career in the hospitality industry, including the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association’s South Carolina Hotelier of the Year award.
Mr. Munro studied hotel and restaurant management at Purdue University. Before graduating, he joined the Purdue Student Union Board and Phi Gamma Delta, a social fraternity. In addition to his executive positions in the hotel and restaurant industry, he has held leadership and board positions with organizations such as the American Hotel and Lodging Association and the Hilton Head Island Accommodations Tax Committee, among others.
